In today’s carpentry industry, productivity, flexibility and knowledge equal success.  Local 255 knows and understands this.  We want to work with you to help you supply manpower for small jobs to big jobs.  We are here to help you and work together with you.  When you become a signatory contractor, you take the first step towards building a partnership with one of the largest skilled labor unions on the East Coast.  We are the Local that covers the needs for South Jersey.

From the moment you choose Union, your business will benefit from the strength, training and resources of our Local.  You will tap into our large regional network of industry partners including developers, architects, construction manager and general contractors – all of whom can provide access to more bid opportunities.

You can leave the training to us as all of our members complete a rigorous 5-year apprenticeship program that incorporates the latest safety regulations and skills in a demanding curriculum.  Journeyman stay current on emerging technologies in our Journeyman upgrade courses as well as numerous manufacturing specific seminars.

You invest in communities by building in the areas where our members live.  Our membership wants to have more opportunities to help educate and inform their community leaders on the value of your projects to their neighborhoods.

The Keystone + Mountain + Lakes Regional Council of Carpenters values it relationships with contractors throughout our jurisdiction and beyond. Collectively, we have strong relationships allowing us to work together. We come together to discuss issues and trust each other enough to work through our differences for the betterment of our industry.

Contractor Dispatch

All contractors that need union carpenters for work must call the NJ Dispatch Center between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  • Contractors who need carpenters for worksites in New Jersey should call the Toll Free Edison Dispatch Center at 1-855-273-1563.
  • Contractors who need carpenters for worksites in Pennsylvania, Maryland or Delaware should call the Toll Free Tri-State Dispatch Center at 855-218-2800.

Please tell Dispatch staff the following information:

  • company name
  • contact person
  • type of work being performed
  • required certifications (if necessary)
  • new job, or an on-going project
  • job location
  • starting date
  • starting time
  • number of carpenters and apprentices

The Union will reserve the right to assign the shop steward for the requested job.

For New Jersey Signatory Contractors and members working under New Jersey’s Current CBA, Article XV: Work Rules states that contractors and members are required to provide the Centralized Dispatch 24 hours notice before a new job start. Contractors and members may do this by phone (855-273-1563) or email. To notify by email, please download the following form. Complete and email to dispatchNJ@northeastcarpenters.org
